Canopy covers help reduce damage to your airplane's upholstery and avionics caused by excessive heat, and they can eliminate problems caused by leaky door and window seals. They keep the windshield and window surfaces clean and help prevent vandalism and theft. The Alarus Standard Canopy Cover encloses the windshield, side windows and canopy roof. It is custom sewn to fit each airplane according to antenna and temperature probe placements. Where necessary a pocket is sewn into the cover for the temperature probe, and reinforced holes are added for VHF antennae. Each cover is trimmed at the corners to match the colors of the airplane, and the N-number can be imprinted onto both sides of the cover. A color-matched duffle bag is included with each cover. The Alarus Canopy Cover attaches with belly straps which are adjustable and detachable from either side with side-release nylon buckles. An elastic cord sewn into the hem of the cover helps keep it tight. Each canopy cover is made of nylon Silver Laminate. Bruce's Custom Covers developed Silver Laminate especially for aircraft protection. The outer material is a medium weight nylon treated for ultraviolet resistance and anti-static buildup. The inner lining is brushed nylon tricot knit. Silver Laminate is extremely reflective. Tests show that the cabin interior temperature can be reduced by as much as 25 degrees F. It is water, ice and snow repellent, yet it is breathable enough to allow moisture to escape from between the cover and the windshield surface. Silver Laminate contains no hydrocarbon compounds which can harm plexiglass windshields and acrylic finishes. The "Flyaway" Travel Weight Canopy Cover is intended for use during trips away from home when space and weight are extremely limited. At less than half the weight of the the standard design, this polyester/spandex material is light weight, reflective, water repellent and stretchy. "Flyaway" covers are not intended for extended use because prolonged exposure to sunlight will age the material quickly. ALSO CAN BE USED AS A DUST COVER! Engine Inlet Plugs are custom sewn "pillows" which contain single foam blocks. For easy cleaning the foam can be removed through the zipper in the back of each plug. For Comanches, there is a special "flag warning" feature: a red flag on a plastic mast sticks up from the plug above the cowling, providing simple assurance to the pilot that the plugs have been removed. Pitot Covers are constructed of the same Naugahyde vinyl as the engine plugs. Each cover is carefully sewn and reinforced with galvanized steel staples at stress points. A bright red "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" warning streamer is sewn on at the bottom edge of the cover. The Pitot Cover snaps tight aroung the base with a sturdy plastic snap. Engine Covers enclose the entire engine cowling area, including the engine air cooling and carburetor air inlets. The cover overlaps and fastens with Velcro to the front edge of the Canopy Cover. It fits snugly behind the prop spinner, with a Velcro closure down to the bottom front edge of the cover near the nose gear door. The Engine Cover is made of Silver Laminate to match the Canopy and Propellor Covers. Prop Covers fit over both the blades and spinner. The cover zips closed along the bottom edge of the blades. The Propellor Cover is made of Silver Laminate to match the Canopy and Engine Covers. The Extended Canopy Cover is similar to the standard Canopy Cover, except that it extends down to the wing root and overlaps with the the Wing Covers. It features a shock-cord hem and fore and aft belly straps which are detachable and adjustable from either side. The Extended Canopy Cover can be made to overlap and attach with Velcro to the Nose Cover and Empennage Cover. The Extended Canopy Cover is made of Silver Laminate, and comes with a storage bag. |
