Cessna Skymaster Canopy Cover, Engine Plugs & Aft Engine Cover

Canopy covers help reduce damage to your airplane's upholstery and avionics caused by excessive heat, and they can eliminate problems caused by leaky door and window seals. They keep the windshield and window surfaces clean and help prevent vandalism and theft.

The Cessna 337 Skymaster Canopy Cover
encloses the entire canopy, including the side windows beneath the wing. It goes over the canopy roof forward of the leading edge. At the lower front and rear corners it either snaps onto the fuselage or is installed with belly straps. For the snap-on method, snaps are pop-riveted in place using a 1/8" drill and pop-rivet gun. The snaps on the cover are fitted on straps at the attachment corners. These straps are adjustable in length so the cover can be fitted for perfect tightness. The belly strap design features belly straps which are adjustable and detachable from either side of the airplane. Non-metal Delrin™ buckles are used. At the upper rear corners the cover either snaps on where a snap post is pop-riveted onto the fuselage, or a padded flat hook attaches to the trailing edge of the wing at the wing root. The Windshield Cover encloses only that portion of the canopy forward of the wing's leading edge and aft of the windshield base. It attaches with either belly straps or snaps at the lower corners. The Extended Canopy Cover encloses all the glass similar to the standard Canopy Cover, but also extends 14" forward of the windshield base.

The Over-Top Canopy Cover encloses the cabin and rear engine areas. The cover extends outboard far enough to cover the wing root fairings. This cover goes on over the top of the fuselage and secures together with Velcro at the belly of the rear engine cowling. It also extends forward from the windshield base to cover the avionics bay.

To insure the most secure fit
, high quality bungee cord is enclosed in the hem of the cover. This cord is also adjustable for tightness. Complete installation instructions and parts are included with each cover. Since the cover encloses the canopy roof forward of the leading edge, it is custom made to fit each airplane according to the type and location of antennae there.

Each canopy cover is custom sewn and trimmed in the colors of the airplane
. A color-matched duffle bag is included with each cover. For an extra charge the airplane's registration number can be stenciled onto both sides of the cover in 4" high characters.

Each canopy cover is made of nylon Silver Laminate
. Bruce's Custom Covers developed Silver Laminate especially for aircraft protection. The outer material is a medium weight nylon treated for ultraviolet resistance and anti-static buildup. The inner lining is brushed nylon tricot knit. Silver Laminate is extremely reflective. Tests show that the cabin interior temperature can be reduced by as much as 25° F. It is water, ice and snow repellent, yet it is breathable enough to allow moisture to escape from between the cover and the windshield surface. Silver Laminate contains no hydrocarbon compounds which can harm plexiglass windshields and acrylic finishes.

Forward Engine Inlet Plugs are "pillows" sewn of heavy duty vinyl material and stuffed with a single block of flexible urethane foam. A zipper in the back of each plug allows the foam to be removed and dried if necessary. Webbing handles in the front of each plug make removal fast and easy. Engine plugs are attached to one another with nylon cord, and have warning flags which stick up above the cowl line, visible from the cockpit.

The Rear Engine Inlet Cover is made of durable, lightweight nylon. Inside the hem of the cover is a spring-steel hoop. The cover goes on the intake over the top and "hooks" itself underneath the scoop. A padded flat hook at the end of an adjustable strap goes from the aft edge of the cover to the edge of the engine cowling near the aft spinner. The advantage of the spring steel hoop in the hem is that it gives the cover a framework, making it easy to install the cover from the ground or short stepladder. This cover can be easily folded into a small circular bundle and stored in a small bag provided.

The Forward Engine Cover
encloses the engine area from the firewall forward. The cover closes around the prop shaft behind the spinner, and a Velcro closure runs down to the front of the nose gear door. A belly strap near the firewall holds the cover on, and it also attaches to the front edge of the Extended Canopy Cover with another Velcro closure. The Engine Cover is made of Silver Laminate.

The Rear Engine Cover hooks over the intake scoop, covering the engine area aft to the spinner and down the sides. It is made of Silver Laminate.

The Wing Covers
are form-fit to slip over the wing tip and secure with straps under the wing. The two covers attach together with a Velcro closure on one side of the fuselage. Providing coverage over the center section of the wing. Wing Covers are made of medium weight nylon, and come with a storage bag.

The Horizontal Stabilizer Cover is a one-piece design which covers the upper surface and fastens with straps along the underside. The Horizontal Stabilizer Cover is made of medium weight nylon.

The Propellor Cover is a one-piece design which slips over the upper edge of the blades and the spinner. The cover snaps together along the lower edge of the blades. The Propellor Cover is made of Silver Laminate.

The Pitot Cover is our standard design: constructed of durable vinyl material. It is carefully sewn and reinforced at stress points with stainless steel staples. A plastic snap tightens th cover around the base of the pitot. A REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT streamer is attached.

HeatShield Interior Reflectors are made of a special laminate of metallized polyester film and closed cell foam. Less than 1/8" thick, the reflector is stiff enough when flat to stand up against the windshield using the sunvisors and window framing only. On some designs Velcro fasteners are necessary. HeatShields roll up and store in a sleeve, yet retain a memory to be flat whenever they are needed. HeatShields are an excellent short-term remedy for cockpit overheating, but the Canopy Cover offers a more effective and practical solution.
