Canopy covers help reduce damage to your airplane's upholstery and avionics caused by excessive heat, and they can eliminate problems caused by leaky door and window seals. They keep the windshield and window surfaces clean and help prevent vandalism and theft. The Cessna 336 Skymaster Canopy Cover encloses the entire canopy, including the side windows beneath the wing. It goes over the canopy roof forward of the leading edge. At the lower front and rear corners it either snaps onto the fuselage or is installed with belly straps. For the snap-on method, snaps are pop-riveted in place using a 1/8" drill and pop-rivet gun. The snaps on the cover are fitted on straps at the attachment corners. These straps are adjustable in length so the cover can be fitted for perfect tightness. The belly strap design features belly straps which are adjustable and detachable from either side of the airplane. Non-metal Delrinª buckles are used. At the upper rear corners the cover either snaps on where a snap post is pop-riveted onto the fuselage, or a padded flat hook attaches to the trailing edge of the wing at the wing root. The Windshield Cover encloses only that portion of the canopy forward of the wing's leading edge and aft of the windshield base. It attaches with either belly straps or snaps at the lower corners. The Extended Canopy Cover encloses all the glass similar to the standard Canopy Cover, but also extends 14" forward of the windshield base. Each canopy cover is custom sewn and trimmed in the colors of the airplane. A color-matched duffle is included with each cover. For an extra charge the airplane's registration number can be imprinted onto both sides of the cover in 4" high characters. Each canopy cover is made of nylon Silver Laminate. Bruce's Custom Covers developed Silver Laminate especially for aircraft protection. The outer material is a medium weight nylon treated for ultraviolet resistance and anti-static buildup. The inner lining is brushed nylon tricot knit. Silver Laminate is extremely reflective. Tests show that the cabin interior temperature can be reduced by as much as 25 degrees F. It is water, ice and snow repellent, yet it is breathable enough to allow moisture to escape from between the cover and the windshield surface. Silver Laminate contains no hydrocarbon compounds which can harm plexiglass windshields and acrylic finishes. |
