Windshield and canopy covers help reduce damage to your airplane's upholstery and avionics caused by excessive heat, and they can eliminate problems caused by leaky door and window seals. They keep the windshield and window surfaces clean and help prevent vandalism and theft. The Caravan Windshield Cover encloses the windshield, side windows and forward canopy roof. It can be custom sewn to fit each airplane in order to fit non-standard antennae placements. The cover attaches at the front corners with a special hook detail to an anchor point located on the right and left sides of the lower engine cowling. At the rear corners, snaps on adjustable length straps snap on to low profile snap-head screws which are placed in existing screw holes on the strut fairing. Each cover is trimmed at the corners to match the colors of the airplane, and the N-number can be imprinted onto both sides of the cover. A color-matched duffle bag and installation instructions are always included. The Windshield Cover is made of Silver Laminate. Bruce's Custom Covers developed Silver Laminate especially for aircraft protection. The outer material is a medium weight nylon treated for ultraviolet resistance and anti-static buildup. The inner lining is brushed nylon tricot knit. Silver Laminate is extremely reflective. Tests show that the cabin interior temperature can be reduced by as much as 25 degrees F. It is water, ice and snow repellent, yet it is breathable enough to allow moisture to escape from between the cover and the windshield surface. Silver Laminate contains no hydrocarbon compounds which can harm plexiglass windshields and acrylic finishes. Engine Inlet Plugs are constructed of durable NaugahydeŞ red vinyl fabric. They are custom-sewn "pillows" which contain single foam blocks. For easy cleaning the foam can be removed through the zipper in the back of the larger plugs. "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" streamers or flags sewn on to each plug. The Engine Cover encloses the engine area from the firewall forward. The cover closes around the prop shaft behind the spinner, and a Velcro closure runs down to the front of the nose gear door. A belly strap near the firewall holds the cover on, and it also attaches to the front edge of the Canopy Cover with another Velcro closure. The Engine Cover is made of Silver Laminate. Wing Covers and Horizontal Stabilizer Covers are form-fit to slip over the wing tip and secure with straps under the wing. Wing Covers are made of medium weight nylon, and come with a storage bag. HeatShields are interior reflectors which are intended as temporary relief against heat buildup in the cockpit or cabin interior. The do keep the interior about as cool as exterior covers, but they can take longer to install and do nothing to protect the plexiglas or to prevent damage caused by leaks. Also, in aircraft equipped with laminated windshields, they may cause damage to those windshields because of excessive heat buildup near the glass. Our HeatShield material is a special laminate of metallized polyester film, laminated to a thin sheet of closed-cell foam. It is thinner than bubble-pack type reflectors, and has extremely good reflective and insulating qualities. Where an exterior cover is not considered practical by the operator, a HeatShield is often the best solution for cabin protection. |
