Back to Top Lockheed C-141 Intake Covers are made of medium weight nylon available in a variety of colors. Inside the hem of each cover is a spring steel hoop. This gives each cover enough stiffness to allow for easy installation with a small stepladder. Each cover attaches to the nacelle at six points around the edge with plastic-coated stainless steel hooks on short lengths of bungee cord. The spring steel hoop allows each cover to fold like a band-saw blade into a small circular bundle. Then the four covers are stacked inside a storage bag. Storage size is approximately 10 high x 24 diameter. Weight of the cover set is about 20 pounds. Pitot Covers are made of durable Naugahyde. Each pitot cover slips tightly around the pitot base. They are attached to one another with a red streamer, while a second red streamer goes under the windshield wiper. Non-burning Pitot Covers are designed to withstand more than 500° F., preventing damage to the pitot tube if the pitot heat is turned on while it is covered. Cockpit HeatShields are made of a metallized polyester film laminated to a thin sheet of closed-cell foam. HeatShields are cut to fit, and are supported by the window frame alone, without Velcro, snaps or fasteners of any kind. HeatShields are stored rolled up in a nylon sleeve, or folded for storage behind or under the cockpit seats. |
