HeatShields are interior reflectors which are intended as temporary relief against heat buildup in the cockpit or cabin interior. The do keep the interior about as cool as exterior covers, but they can take longer to install and do nothing to protect the plexiglas or to prevent damage caused by leaks. Also, in aircraft equipped with laminated windshields, they may cause damage to those windshields because of excessive heat buildup near the glass.
Our HeatShield material is a special laminate of metallized polyester film, laminated to a thin sheet of closed-cell foam. It is thinner than bubble-pack type reflectors, and has extremely good reflective and insulating qualities.
Where an exterior cover is not considered practical by the operator, a HeatShield is often the best solution for cabin protection.
Engine Inlet Plugs are "pillows" sewn of heavy duty vinyl material and stuffed with a single block of urethane foam. A zipper in the back of each plug allows the foam to be removed and dried if necessary. Engine plugs are custom fit for each inlet on the C-130. They have warning flags and webbing handles, and they can be imprinted with the squadron insignia or embroidered with the aircraft number.
Heavy Duty Plugs. For extremely hard use, certain plugs are available in a heavy duty style using thicker, stronger material and construction methods intended to withstand hard and constant use.
Pitot Covers are made of the same vinyl as the inlet plugs. They are tightly fit to the pitot, and require no Velcro or snaps to hold them on. A "Remove Before Flight" streamer is attached.
The Propellor Maintenance Stand Cover is made of heavy duty vinyl, and is designed to cover the entire unit down to ground level. It is marked with "FRONT" to help make installation faster, and has heavy duty tie rings to rope it down in high wind areas.
The Engine Maintenance Stand Cover is similar in design to the Propellor Stand Cover. It has screens sewn in at low points to allow for water drainage, and zippers in places to make installation easier.
The Propellor Test Unit Cover is an indoor dust cover, made of Cordura nylon.
The Engine Transport Cover is a proposed design for a reusable cover set which is used when the engine is transported on its stand. It is made of heavy weight Cordura nylon, and is imprinted with warnings and other specific notices. There is a clear plastic pocket on the outside of the main part of the cover for engine documentation, and has disposable oil absorbent pads inside on the bottom of the enclosure.
The Auxiliary Fuel Tank Cover is designed as an indoor/outdoor cover to protect the fuel tank from excessive weathering during storage. It covers the entire unit down to ground level and has zippers on either end for faster installation. There are tie-rings along the bottom edge to allow for tieing down in high wind conditions.
Center Console Cover is made of medium weight Cordura nylon, and covers the entire console area between the pilot and co-pilot seats. It is designed as a dust cover, and protects against FOD during maintenance or storage.
Interior Panels are custom made for each aircraft, according to snap fittings, interior equipment and maintenance access needs. They are made of a special laminted material, approved for use in the C-130, and are reinforced and imprinted or embroidered as needed with warnings, fuselage station markings, etc.
